Giselle, Hats and Sacred Singing

I realized just now that I write A LOT of blog entries. But it's just because I have stuff happen to me that is amazing!

Yesterday I went shopping with Naomi (neither of us ended up buying anything)- and we were on the hunt for a good deal, or a good HAT! And we found the most charming hat shop with hats of all shapes and sizes. I didn't take many pictures because I was too busy admiring the fur ones, and looking for one that resembles Britain's cap- but suffice it to say that we will be going again just to look at it. The shop is called Oberwald and it's on Kartnerstrasse- and many hats are hand made! Definitely a shop to visit if you come to Vienna. (Mom, Grandma and Julie, WINK WINK!)

Then we went to the Staatsoper with Becky to see Giselle (click for a quick video), a ballet (apparently it is the ballet of all ballets- Giselle is a highly sought after role that takes a lot of skill)! I have never seen a ballet other than the Nutcracker, so it was great to see something that tells a story and try to figure it out. And it makes me jealous and want to be a dancer!! At the bows the dancers were absolute DIVAS (and divos). Giselle got thrown two bouquets from the side loges, and Hilarion got THREE. And their bows were as deep and graceful as any of their dancing moves.

Then this morning Carli and I sang a duet of "Did you Think to Pray", accompanied by Joseph, for the Vienna International Ward (haha- it's funny because the last time I sang this duet it was with my cousin Carli...). I scurried off after I sang with Joseph, Amy, Shea, and Britain because Joseph was supposed to sing a duet with a man from the 1st ward (which turned into a trio- Shea stepped in last minute to sing another part). Then after that ward, we all went back to the Stake Building to have choir practice!

Its like my voice isn't mine anymore when I step into these church settings, and I'm simply using it for His purposes. I love singing! I can't imagine losing my voice like Ariel from the Little Mermaid! Sooo sad! So I'd rather use my talents than hide them in the ground and have it taken away from me (anybody know what parable I'm referencing? haha, I'm so nerdy).

And since it is Sunday, I thought I'd share a scripture:

2 Timothy 1:7

"For God hath not given us the sprit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of sound mind."

So when you feel fearful or worried about something- just know that God isn't the one who is putting those worries and fears into you (I mean, unless it is a Godly fear which is useful for repentance). We are the ones who choose to keep our worries and fears alive. But we can also choose to pray about those things and feel peace. I choose peace! I choose happiness!

Maybe My Dreams Are Too Small: Joining the Mormon Tabernacle Choir

Moving from our first home

We are moving from our first home in Eagle Mountain back to Provo in one month! We have loved our time out here. We have enjoyed making little home improvements to our place over the 2 1/2 years we've lived here but know that Provo is where we are supposed to be. Here's pictures of our place, which has already sold. We will remember our time here fondly! When we moved here, there was a low-hanging chandelier and unattractive fluorescent kitchen lighting. We changed that! There was also some crazy lighting in the front room.. see all the streaks on the walls? We got new lighting. And notice the PINK?? Fixed that too. Ashley and Ryan slept over once and really enjoyed moving around our sectional couch to make this bed-like area! We enjoyed being close to Thanksgiving point and going there for date nights or Family Nights! Bike rides were also a favorite past time. Eagle Mountain sure has great biking trails and parks! ...

European Choir Tour 2016

I returned last week from the MoTab's European tour-- the first tour outside of the country in 18 years! (except a quick stint in Canada in 2003). What an experience. I felt like the whole experience was a missionary trip to uplift the hearts and minds of those who have been experiencing terrorist attacks throughout the year. Although I enjoyed touring the historic cities, nothing paralleled the feeling of singing for the people and hearing their enjoyment of our music. The music of the choir affected me greatly as a teenager, and I like to think that there were some in the audience who are like me, who came to feel the peace of the music amid these tumultuous times. This tour seemed to go more smoothly than the last one, despite it being a week longer and in seven countries where the native language isn't English. We were more prepared as a choir with our repertoire, and I was personally more prepared. I was particularly excited to return to Austria!!! :D All you gotta ...
